THINK, AND SWIM, LIKE A WINNER
"Would you believe that you are History in the making? Every choice that you are making, Every Step that you are taking, Every chain that you are breaking, History is in the making... Every Word that you are saying, Every prayer that you are praying, Every chain that you are breaking, History is in the making..."
"Let's go Pinegate!"
WHAT CAN I DO TO GET BETTER?
We take risks because we have something of value which we want to achieve. What do you want to achieve? A good attitued makes it possible for you to be successful. It gives you fuel so that you want to pursue your purpose and grow to your potential. It can give you the staying power to improve. But it also makes the journey more enjoyable along the way - no matter where it takes you. Where are you going? Your 50-free time may be 54 seconds, 44 seconds, 34 seconds, or 24 seconds. Until it's zero seconds, you can always keep improving.
1. Come to Practice. Get in ON TIME!!!! Do the sets like you are supposed to. -This is more importaint than i thought when i was a swimmer. By swimming on a demanding high school team i realized the value of everyone being at practice and focused when it's time to get in. At the end of the day, knowing you swam every yard you were supposed to and you did your best is a great feeling.
2. Come to lap swim every day of the week! Some days you can swim laps and get extra yardage in, while other days you should try to get individualized, undivided, one-on-one, semi-uninterrupted work. Especially work on Starts and Turns because those are the places where we can show other teams that we worked hard because they show great technique!
3. Be Smart when you're not at practice! All summer long you should stay away from illegal substance use and smoking, but i don't expect that to be a problem... The number one thing is keep hydrated!!!! Stop thinking 'drink when i'm thirsty' and start thinking 'i'm in the mood for some water!!!' 8 glasses a day is a good start. Drink water in moderation and you'll be sure to have more endurance and keep you healthy so you dont get sick!!!
