SSL Age Groups

Well, as your coach, I know that's definitely for you swimmers to decide. But what I can tell you is how the rest of league looks against eachother. In making these predictions, I assume five things. These are almost never all true, but it's a mathematical way to predict about how each age group will do (and since i'm a weather major and maybe a math minor at college, mathematics and predicting is my kind of thing :)

1. No swimmers moved in/out over the winter.
2. Every swimmer is one year older than they were last year
3. Every swimmer swims about the same events as last year
4. A swimmer who was not at the top of their age group (like 7,9, 11, 13, 14) Will do better than last year
5. A swimmer who will be in a new age group this year (was 8, 10, 12) Will not place as well in their new age group.

These age groups are definitely the least accurate, so don't take them to mean too much. Alot of improving goes on these year, so remember that. But i'm betting most 10 and unders aren't surfing the web so for i guess you parents/older kids, know that these may or may not be accurate.

I think 11-12s are probably the most predictable age group (if there is a such thing) A couple Reasons: they're going from 9-10 to 11-12 so a good indicator is how the 9-10's did 2 years ago (they'll be 11-12s this year). Also, the distances stay 50s of each stroke, so theres no "how will they adjust to swimming longer distances" problem.
